Keratex Hoof Putty

Seals & Protects Hoof Cavities & Abscess Wounds.

Keratex Hoof Putty seals and waterproofs horn separation cavities, preventing germs from compromising hoof health. Self-adhesive, flexible and won't drop out or deteriorate.

Seals and stabilizes hoof cavities caused by seedy toe, white line disease and other hoof conditions resulting in horn separation. Prevents grit and stones from entering the hoof. Can support tubes for flushing or draining cavities.

Keratex Hoof Putty is a unique type of malleable wax containing slow release organic disinfectants and antibacterials. Use to fill cavities left by conditions such as seedy toe and after the removal of abscesses from the sole. The broad spectrum organic disinfectants in Keratex Hoof Putty are effective in treating both fungal and bacterial problems.

Sold in 200 gm cans

Start with a clean dry hoof. Wash and dry hands as well. Work a piece of Keratex Hoof Putty in your hands until it turns soft and tacky. Press this piece of putty into the cavity. Repeat until the cavity is filled and putty is level with surrounding horn or sole. When shoeing over or close to areas filled with Hoof Putty it is essential that only cold shoeing or gluing is used. Where Hoof Putty has been applied under a shoe, it must be replaced at next shoeing. In all other cases check weekly and replace as required.

Once inserted, Keratex Hoof Putty hardens to its former state, providing a good seal against water and dirt, and can be used on either shod or unshod hooves.

Why did you choose this?

Love this...for filling crevasses in heels.

As a rescue we always need items like this on hand for emergencies.

I love Keratex products, but this one wasn't very impressive. Perhaps it was me, the user, but it didn't stay in the openings between hoof wall and sole.

Going to try this to help rebuild the horribly damaged front hoof of my 24 yr-old white-footed, pinto MFT whose feet literally fell apart. I wish I could post photos here. Also using Keratex Gel.…

Does what it says it is supposed to do. Is very hard to work with in cold weather. There is a learning curve. I found if I work with a VERY small amount, I can work it in the cracks and around the nails easily. Also found that a space heater helps in cold weather.

Yes definitely would buy again
I have used this on my Hackney Pony who has a white line disease. He has vertical cracks in the hoof and this is helping it to mend and grow back together but must be kept in a warm place cuz it gets very very hard and difficult to work with

Great for keeping dirt out of a drained abscess!
Used to keep dirt out of the hole from a fully drained abscess in my horses toe. Softened the putty and plugged the drained abscess hole. Covered with Animalintex pad and a duck tape boot. Stayed for a week and he's walking fine.

I WILL BE SENDING KERATEX HOOF PUTTY BACK
I CAN NOT TELL YOU ABOUT THE FEATURES OF THIS PRODUCT BECAUSE I CAN NOT GET IT OUT OF THE CAN. IT IS HARD AS A ROCK. IT HAD GREAT REVIEWS AND I WAS LOOKING FORWARD TO USING IT ON MY MARE'S FEET. UNLESS SOMEONE CAN TELL ME HOW TO GET IT OUT OF THE CAN, I CAN NOT WRITE A GOOD REVIEW.

I purchased the hoof putty for a quarter horse that had an abscess in the sole of his front hoof going up the hoof wall. I needed something to fill in the void and keep mud and sticks from getting back inside. I applied this product and it works great. The only advice I would offer is to make sure you get enough out of the can at first to fill the void. If you didn't get enough out of the can the first time, and have to add to the void, it will not stick to what you first applied due to the heat difference. Get a big bunch, heat it up by rolling it in your hands, and if you have some left over, put it back in the can. Happy trails!

Just what we needed
This putty is great! It stays where we put it and keeps dirt and moisture out of the problem area of the hoof. Completely satisfied with it, as it does just what it says it will do.

Like the product it isn't easily applied is my biggest problem with it. It helps protect the hoof until it can grow out.
