Little King Farm Foal to Weanling DVD
Marianne Eberth, founder of Little King Farm, and her daughter Robin Mingione are more experienced than most vets. They are not veterinarians but have foaled out more than 2000 foals over the last 30 years. This 68-minute DVD covers many problems that can occur after the foal is born until the time it is weaned.
Marianne and Robin discuss the causes of “Failure to Thrive” and how to deal with those issues. They detail necessary testing and procedures that should be completed within the first 24 hours after birth: IGG snap test for colostrum levels, enemas, shots, and leg problems. They go into further discussions on diarrhea and dehydration, rejection of foals by mare, orphan foals, and eye problems. They discuss introducing the mare and foal back into the herd, healthy management for both mare and foal, how to determine if your foal is sick or “sad”, actual weaning and feeding the weanlings.
